Gilgamesh of Uruk

Description

Gilgamesh, King of the ancient Mesopotamian city of Uruk in the year 2700 BCE. Of all the myths, legends, folklore, and stories that I have ever read (and I've read more than a few), none have spoken to me like the Epic of Gilgamesh. Arguably the oldest written story in existence, its origins go back to the third millenium before the common era. The story of Gilgamesh was as old to Alexander the Great as Alexander is to us today.
What about the story was so special for me? It is the ageless wisdom concerning the human condition that makes this story so incredible. If you haven't done so already, check it out.
A note on his appearance:
1. I have chosen to represent Gilgamesh as clean shaven. This is probably artistic license on my part although contemporary statues and figurines show both bearded and clean shaven people.
2. His tunic is made of knotted goat fur tassles and is a fairly accepted form of dress for ancient Mesopotamia.
3. This head gear is a variation on a famous Sumerian example, as is his dagger.
4. His girdle and belt are my own design, as are the armlets and bracelets.

Is very strange seeing him without the beard. All that patriarchal heritage we see in Zeus and the christian god is gone. Interestingly enough, in ancient Mesopotamia, beards were a sign of mobility and wealth, alongside long hair, because it was an indicative of good nutrition and the power and money to get it
